Does Enshrouded have classes?
Not in the usual sense. You don't choose a class when you create a character, and nothing locks you in. Instead, every Flameborn uses the same skill tree of 178 skills. The tree is split into three combat areas, Mage, Warrior and Ranger, around a shared Core, and each area holds four groups called archetypes. When players talk about Enshrouded classes, they mean these archetypes, or the builds made from them.
Two things decide your class in practice: the archetype you spend most of your skill points in, and the attribute you raise with them (Intelligence for magic, Strength for melee, Dexterity for bows and daggers). Your weapons and armor follow from that choice.
The 12 Enshrouded classes
Each archetype below lists its size, what it does, the skills worth knowing first and the build guide that uses it.
Mage classes
All four sit in the Mage area of the skill tree.
- Wizard (17 skills, 83 points to max). The damage caster. Staff and wand damage, elemental damage, spell crits and, since 1.0, the summon limits for skeletons and totems. Skills to know: Wizard, Mage Apprentice, Chain Hit. Build: Enshrouded Wizard build (S-tier).
- Healer (14 skills, 56 points to max). The support. Healing, auras that protect the group, Blink and stronger revives. Skills to know: Blink, Righteous Fire, Divine Surge. Build: Enshrouded Healer build (A-tier).
- Battlemage (13 skills, 43 points to max). The wand fighter. Wand damage and mana sustain, ward and shield parries, and the new 1.0 wand attacks. Skills to know: Wand Mastery, Unity, Life Burst. Build: Enshrouded Battlemage build (S-tier).
- Trickster (11 skills, 42 points to max). The spell utility group. Faster spell charging and mana regeneration, which every caster and especially summoners want. Skills to know: Blast and Cast, Quick Charge, Arcane Concentration. Build: Enshrouded Necromancer build (S-tier).
Warrior classes
All four sit in the Warrior area of the skill tree.
- Tank (13 skills, 61 points to max). The frontline. Armor scaling, resistances when surrounded, aggro and group protection. Skills to know: Veteran, Heavy Plates, Nemesis. Build: Enshrouded Tank build (A-tier).

- Athlete (10 skills, 30 points to max). The movement group. Stamina, parry stamina, jump attacks and swimming dashes. Skills to know: Vigorous Deflection, Athlete, Crash Down Attack. Not a main build on its own: players take a few of its nodes for utility.
Ranger classes
All four sit in the Ranger area of the skill tree.
- Ranger (20 skills, 75 points to max). The archer. Bow damage, crits, weak-point shots and extra arrows. Skills to know: Ranger, Sniper, Puncture. Build: Enshrouded Ranger build (A-tier).
- Assassin (15 skills, 51 points to max). The crit and dagger group. Dagger damage, backstabs, poison, and gliding. Skills to know: Graceful Stride, Expose Weakness, Dagger Mastery. Build: Enshrouded Assassin build (B-tier).
- Beastmaster (12 skills, 41 points to max). The hunter. Damage against wildlife and specific enemy types, plus poison resistance. Skills to know: Snake Eater, Endurance of the Flame, Beast Master. Not a main build on its own: players take a few of its nodes for utility.
- Survivor (13 skills, 48 points to max). The explorer. Shroud time, stamina and survival perks, such as keeping food buffs through death. Skills to know: Survival Instinct, Rebound, Last Meal. Not a main build on its own: players take a few of its nodes for utility.
The Core in the middle of the tree isn't a class: it holds general skills like Double Jump and Merciless Attack that any build can take.

Not sure? The 1.0 tier list ranks all nine builds, and the skill planner lets you try any of them before you spend a point.
Mixing classes: hybrid builds
Because nothing is locked, most strong builds use one main archetype and a neighbour for what it lacks. The combinations our guides recommend:
- Wizard: Battlemage (wizard + Battlemage hybrid for heavier wand play); Necromancer (summoner hybrid using the new totems)
- Battlemage: Wizard (go full Wizard for more burst); Tank (the melee mage, spellblade or sword mage: Tank nodes and a one-handed weapon for close range, the wand for range. Every parry restores mana through Arcane Deflection)
- Necromancer: Wizard (wizard burst with summon support); Healer (summoner/Healer for co-op support)
- Healer: Battlemage (battlemage/Healer hybrid that can solo); Tank (pair with a Tank for the strongest duo)
- Warrior: Tank (turn it into a full Tank for co-op); Barbarian (swap to two-handers for more damage)
- Tank: Warrior (tank/Warrior for faster solo clears); Battlemage (battlemage/Tank with a wand and heavy armor)
- Barbarian: Warrior (warrior/Barbarian for more sustain); Tank (swap in heavy armor for a bruiser)
- Ranger: Assassin (ranger/Assassin crit archer); Wizard (add magic for groups)
- Assassin: Ranger (ranger/Assassin crit archer); Barbarian (melee crit hybrid)
Can you change class?
Yes. Reset your skill tree at a Flame Altar for 1 Rune per spent skill point and spend the points on another archetype. Our respec guide shows the cost at each stage. Characters from before 1.0 also got one free reset when the update launched.
